PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS for IRIS Seeds:
For best results put seeds in refrigerator for 30 to 60 days to cold stratify.
It tricks them in to thinking they went through a cold winter.
Plant the seed about 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart in well drained soil.
Keep soil slightly moist and if in a flower pot cover with clear plastic wrap.
Let in fresh air every couple of days to prevent seed rot.
Seeds will sprout in 4 to 8 weeks depending on soil temperature and conditions, germination times vary widely.
MANY SEEDS KNOW THAT IT IS TIME TO GERMINATE WHEN THEY GET WARMER AFTER A PROLONGED COLD PERIOD, LIKE SPRING WARMING AFTER A COLD WINTER.
THIS IS WHY WE SUGGEST AND EMPHASIZE TO COLD STRATIFY SEEDS BEFORE PLANTING THEM.
