This colorful Insect Hotel will be a welcome shelter for many beneficial insects in your yard, such as Lady Bugs, Solitary Bees, Lacewings, Spiders and others. When we clear leaf litter and debris from our yards, it removes the secure places these creatures need for habitat. These Houses can also give insects a protected space to hibernate during the winter.
Colors: Sage Green and Medium Blue
Approx size = 10"x9.5"x5" - each Insect Hotel is hand made, so exact dimensions will vary.
D-hook securely screwed to the back for hanging.
NOTE: The filling materials will vary with seasonal availability, and may include sunflower stalks, twigs, seed pods, recycled wood, palm fiber, ocotillo, yucca fiber, agave stems, bark and other natural plant materials.
-- Hang the Hotel about 2-3 feet above the ground OR ~6-12" above plant level.
-- Choose a south or south-east exposure to avoid harsh afternoon sun.
-- Protect your Insect Hotel (and its residents) from direct sun, sprinklers and rain.
-- Remember to minimize or eliminate the use of chemicals and pesticides in your yard.
-- Native plants will attract local insects and provide food for pollinators.
During the winter you may choose to move your Insect Hotel to a protected area, if needed, to protect your guests from freezing weather.
