Heirloom San Marzano Tomato is the legendary Italian paste tomato that gardeners and chefs swear by for sauces, canning, and cooking. This classic variety produces elongated, deep red fruits with thick flesh, very few seeds, and a rich, slightly sweet flavor with low acidity—perfect for authentic Italian pasta sauce or homemade pizza. While prized for cooking, San Marzanos are also delicious fresh, with a bright flavor that makes them excellent in salads or sliced on sandwiches.
Vigorous indeterminate vines yield heavily throughout the season, and with proper support can reach over 6 feet tall. Fruits average 4–5 inches long and ripen about 80–90 days from transplant. San Marzanos are easy to peel for sauce making and are considered by many to be the finest paste tomato in the world.
A true heirloom, these seeds are open-pollinated, so you can save seed from year to year and keep this beloved variety thriving in your garden. Plant in full sun with well-drained soil, stake or cage for best results
