It is ideal to keep Chinese Elm Trees indoors by a brightly lit window and some air circulation or outdoors in full sun or partial shade. The leaves will sometimes have a reddish tint when under full sun in the hotter months, and will usually drop their leaves in the fall/winter season. We advise keeping the soil lightly moist by watering everyday. Be careful to not let the tree sit in standing water.
