The cassava shrub may grow to 2.75 meters (9 feet) tall, with leaves deeply divided into 3โ7 lobes. The shrub is often grown as an annual, and propagated from stem cuttings after tubers have been harvested. The fruit is small, roughly 1 cm (1/2 inch) in diameter, but root tubers in cultivated varieties (which require 9โ18 months to grow to harvestable size) can be 5โ10 cm in diameter and 15โ30 cm long. Fresh roots and leaves contain cyanide compounds including linamarin (cyanogenic glucoside) and hydrocyanic acid at levels that may be toxic, but properly treated (in a labor-intensive process that may include roasting, soaking, or fermentation.

๐ก๐ข๐ง๐: The Diagonal cut faces down into the soil, Flat end facing up.
- Best way is to root your cassava cuttings is to Plant them into a 6โ+ container, using a well-draining potting soil. For better success, use a root hormone, it will defiantly help. ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐: Take a look at how I planted my cassava cuttings in a 6โ container sitting in a saucer filled up with water so it can draw the water upward into the soil when it needs it. ( As shown in the last image of my ad) When rooting, keep your cuttings always in partial shade! Once fully rooted you can transplant them in full sun in you garden.
๐ก๐ข๐ง๐: The Diagonal cut always faces down into the soil, Flat end facing up towards the sky.
Keep the soil semi moist but not soaking wet. Do not let it dry out. If you live in a dry climate. I would suggest covering them with a humidity dome or a clear plastic bag, Every couple of days take it off so they can breathe. โ ๏ธ Do not let them get moldyโ ๏ธ If so, use โBotanicare Hydroguardโ when watering or a fungicide copper spray or (Neem, Cinnamon etc.) on your cuttings.
๐๐๐๐๐ง, ๐ Cassava plants need lots of bright, direct sunlight, but too much can cause leaf burn. If this happens, you can try moving the plant to a partially shaded area. You can also place potted cassava plants less than a foot from a window.
๐ช๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐๐ก๐ ๐ง Cassava plants can tolerate periods of drought and heavy summer rains, but they should be watered regularly. If your potted cassava plant is in a 5 inch pot and doesn't get direct sunlight, it needs about 0.8 cups of water every 9 days. You should avoid standing water at the roots
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐ โ Cassava plants can grow in a variety of soils and pH levels, but they prefer well-drained, sandy, loamy soil.
๐๐๐ฅ๐ง๐๐๐๐ญ๐๐ก๐๐ You can use a slow-release fertilizer in the spring to encourage flowering and growth.
๐ง๐๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฅ๐ โ Cassava plants grow best in warm, humid conditions and warmer temperatures. They can't tolerate cold drafts, AC units, or radiators that reduce humidity levels. In areas that experience freezing temperatures, you can move your cassava plants indoors to a pot before the first frost. Once the weather warms up again, you can transplant them back outside.
๐ฃ๐๐ฆ๐ง๐ฆ & ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ฆ๐ ๐ Cassava plants are generally resistant to pests and disease, but some chewing pests can damage the foliage. If you notice yellow leaves, it could be a sign of overwatering, pests, or nutrient deficiencies. You can try adjusting the watering and nutrients, or using soil amendments. You can also remove and destroy any plants that look infected, and disinfect all tools and equipment between cuttings
Cassava Manihot shrub may grows tall but will be wobbly but you can prune it down. with leaves deeply divided into 3โ7 lobes. The shrub is often grown as an annual and propagated from stem cuttings after tubers have been harvested. The but root tubers in cultivated varieties (which require 9โ18 months to grow to harvestable, YOU MUST boil THEM until soften before consuming. Fresh roots and leaves contain cyanide compounds. SO YOU MUST BOIL THE BEFORE consuming them, besides they are hard as a rock until you soften them by boiling ..

Cassava can be cooked in many ways. The soft-boiled root of the sweet variety has a delicate flavor and can replace boiled potatoes in many uses: as an accompaniment for meat dishes or made into purรฉes, dumplings, soups, stews, gravies, etc. Deep fried (after boiling or steaming), it can replace fried potatoes, bringing a distinctive flavor. It can be made into a flour that is used in breads, cakes and cookies. In Brazil, detoxified manioc is ground and cooked to a dry, often hard or crunchy meal known as farina in which is used as a condiment, toasted in butter, or eaten alone as a side dish.
