It is a popular fruit in tropical regions and is distinct from the common Cavendish banana. Rare and much sought after, the Manzano or "Apple" banana is delicious as a hand fruit, tossed in fruit salads, baked in breads, custards and puddings, fried as fritters or blended in shakes and daiquiris. Size and Appearance: Manzano bananas are shorter and plumper than Cavendish bananas. They have a golden-yellow skin when ripe, often with black spots. Flavor Profile: The taste is sweet with hints of apple and strawberry, making it unique compared to other banana varieties. Texture: Creamy and firm when ripe, it becomes soft as it fully matures.
