You will receive fresh cuttings, quantity of your choosing, from our bright yellow Mexican Sunflowers growing in sunny Florida. Home grown naturally using regenerative methods with lots of love and zero chemicals or pesticides. You will receive fresh unrooted cuttings, just like those in the first photo. These cuttings are cut fresh per order and are approximately 6-8 inches long, with the leaves removed. These cuttings are the mature brown woody stems as I find they root better than the green stems. The cuttings will be wrapped with wet paper towels to retain moisture and packaged with great care for safe shipping. IMPORTANT: I cannot ship this item to AZ, CA, & HI. If your shipping address is to any of these states your order will be cancelled. Thank you for your understanding. Growing Info & Tips These Mexican Sunflowers, thinoia diversolia, produce gorgeous bright yellow flowers! It grows as a perennial in Zones 9-11, but can be grown as an annual elsewhere. They make for a nice hedge and can reach 14+ Ft tall so I trim them multiple times as year (and use them as chop and drop for a natural fertilizer). They are fast growers! They do well in full sun to part shade, can tolerate poor soil, and are drought tolerant once established. Seeds are sterile. For Propagating the Cuttings: Pot up the cuttings in pots with pre- moistened potting mix, burying about ½ of each cutting into the soil. If you like, you can use a rooting hormone to help them along. Keep pots in part shade, and water to keep the soil moist but not soggy! You should see new growth within a few weeks time. Once established, gradually move from the shade to sun over the course of a couple weeks. Uses The Mexican Sunflower is an absolute favorite among the pollinators, including monarch butterflies! The large yellow flowers make for nice bright and cheery cut flowers, although they don't last too long when cut. The leaves are an amazing natural fertilizer that I use in our garden for chop and drop (it grows back super fast) and for composting and making compost teas. Used as a green fertilizer the N-PK- ratio is 1.76- 0.82- 3.92 as good as chicken manure! Please Note: All of my cuttings are fresh and viable. Growing is fun! The majority of the time it is a success but sometimes it’s not. This just is the way it is with nature and gardening. I hope you experience success with all the cuttings, however I cannot be responsible for rooting failure due to improper care or climate conditions etc. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me a message. All photos are taken from our garden.
