All of our ceramic pots are painted by hand and then completed with a clear top coat sealant to provide a smooth, finished surface. Although untreated terracotta pots are usually porous and allow water to slowly evaporate, the sealing process closes these tiny microscopic holes and creates a more watertight environment. Please take note of this, and if using a smart watering app or schedule, consider designating these pots as glazed pots instead of traditional unglazed terracotta.
